Caltrans will hold a public open house to discuss a project to replace the southbound Toro Creek Bridge on Highway 1 near Morro Bay.
This meeting will take place on Thursday, May 22 at the Morro Bay Veterans Hall at 209 Surf Street from 5 pm to 7 pm. This meeting will be conducted in an open house style format. Caltrans staff will be present to answer questions from the public.
This project proposes to remove the existing southbound bridge and construct a new bridge structure in its place. This project will involve vegetation clearing, replanting and pavement work. This project also includes aesthetic treatments, upgrades to guardrails, bridge railing, slope stabilization and erosion control.
The existing southbound Toro Creek Bridge has experienced a deterioration of the columns, abutments and superstructure requiring a replacement of the structure. The existing outside shoulders will be widened to enhance safety for all travelers.
Highway workers deserve to get home safely too. Drive slowly and carefully in work zones.
